GRIS ZARCI STONE; beauty on the outdoor flooring

 GRIS ZARCI STONE


GRIS ZARCI is a hard stone that presents a greyish colour, with little fossil dark waves and occasionally dark grey defined veins. It is quarried in the south of the Murcia province.

It’s also named as CREMA LEVANTE or GRIS LORCA (Gris Mallorca is another material with many white veins and very scarce)

When polished this stone seems a normal stone, nothing more, but, being a hard material, it is widely used for outdoor paving or wall cladding. Its high demand is due to its matching with the old stone from Mallorca (Piedra de Binissalem), that, when exhausted, was substituted for the Gris Zarci.

 

For that reason this stone is the top one at the islands for outdoor projects, both for wall cladding & pavement, swimming pool surrounds, stairs…

 

 

FINISHES

For inner spaces, if it is also applied for outdoor and needing a continuity on the material, it can be sorted in honed finish or also in bushammered & brushed by increasing the action of the brushing process to made the tiles more comfortable.

For outdoor are used the bushammered finish (for areas nearby the swimming pool). Look is whitish, and rough to the touch, but perfect to avoid slips caused by water.

The finish bushammered & brushed is provides the perfect look enhancing the colour and reducing roughness apart of showing the different stone tonalities and veining to the final look.

Special touch can be asked in bushammered & brushed with edges pillowed, adding volume to the stone, special for inner flooring (but it’s expensive).

Now it can be provided also with chipped edges, that provides an ancient look; very useful if intended to create a rustic or old ambience. It can be made for both finishes, bushammered and bushammered & brushed

 

 

 SIZES

Gris Zarci is provided in standard size tiles (60x60x2 cm, 60x30 or 40 x 2 cm..) but also it can be ordered in the dimension more suitable for the project. It is demanded in 80x80, 120x120  also free lengths (70, 60 cm x free length...)

Of course it can be provided in 3 cm for stairs and coping.

Once installed it can be sealed for its protection. If not, only when wet and being drying some dark wet lines will appear, that will dissapear when totally drying.

Marble project in Cyprus

  June 2023 New pictures of the swimming pool area And a astonishing video of the nigth illumination of the swimmimg pool 2 Years ago started a project of marble in different shapes to Cyprus. A Villa in which outdoor & indoor materials from Spain were going to be used, along with Greek marbles for different areas Greek marble columns Greek carved columns   For the exterior were sent Gris Zarci marble in finish bushammered & brushed, that was cut there in octagonal shape to fit corners with dark marble tesselas. The final appearance can be seen in these pictures  Moreover, tiles were drilled to include a led ligth that would shine on the night as stars.
